The first scramble on the part of Union S.C. came in the 4th round of the 2010 BSL draft, when the desired player options were snatched up by opposing teams. After some deliberation and head scratching, the Blues decided on acquiring the services of Geoff Cameron.

Then in the 5th round once again Union S.C. had their proposed pick snatched up and was forced to re-evaluate its strategy. The end result was what the team feels may have unexpected benefits in the season to come with the selection of Steve Zakuani.
