Late Heroics Keep Union Unbeaten

BSL Week 5
Union SoCal 4 Gateway United 3
The Southlanders improved on the club's best start to a season grabbing another win and another 3 points in the standings defeating Gateway United 4-3. The Union trailed throughout the match including being down 3-2 after the 80th minute. Then Aristeguieta scored to equalize and Espinoza sealed the game winner! The result keeps the club 2 points behind Cumberland in 2nd place in the BSL and also gives the Southlanders a positive result for the Founders Cup.

Union SoCal 3 Orange County 1
History was made as Union Southern California grabbed another 3 points in the BSL standings making this the best start to a season ever for the club! Kaka's brace was the difference in the victory over the Zodiac in week 4 action. Next up is a date with Gateway United. It's not often these two have met with the Union having the better record, and no mercy will be shown against the Saints.

In MCQ action, the Southlanders defeated Rose City 7-2 to take an early first place in Group B. The next qualifier will be against Spartans 1612 in 4 weeks.

Rare Win Over Flyers

BSL Week 3

Finally, the tables have turned and Union SC claimed a win over Rose City for only the 2nd time in 9 meetings.  Josh Saunders was the man of the match with his spirited effort and was the real difference in the stat sheet with 2 points all by himself. The win gives the Southlanders 7 points in the BSL standings after 3 matches. Next up will be another big test for the club as Union SC will play Orange County who is also playing well and also the club must face Rose City once again in the first MC qualifier of 2015.

Offense Looks Strong

Union SoCal 7 Second City 4

Union SoCal improved to 1-0-1 on the season with an impressive victory over Second City. The club got production from 5 starters including 2 goals from Aristeguieta, and the match captain Wondolowski. Once against Jaime Penedo did not play because of a migraine and points were left on the bench with Josh Saunders. "Until its for sure he will be ready, Josh is going to be starting as keeper" said the Union manager. Once again there were plenty of cards handed out to the Southlanders in this match and continues to be a problem that has carried over from last season. Thankfully, it has not cost the club any damage. Next up is Rose City. A definite thorn in the side of the Union. In preparation for this match the Southlanders have made a transaction by signing Sanna Nyassi(SJE) and released Andres Romero(MON). Hopefully the offense remains hot and can grab a victory over the Flyers.

Cards An Issue In Opener

A late deflection goal from Kaka saved the Union faithful from a long week of questions, as Union SC salvaged a point in the standings with a tie versus Gold Coast FC. The Southlanders trailed throughout the entire match, but stayed close and equalized on two separate occasions. Once again the theme for the club was disciplinary. The club had to play shorthanded with Aurelin Collin's red card, and Aristeguieta and Serna also earned yellows in the match. "It was a theme last year and was a theme in this match as well. "It's hard to win when you let your opponent have 2 sub's enter the match." said the Union owner.

Week 1

Early Transaction Before Opener
With every hope the season will begin as planned, Union SC submitted its line-up for week 1 of the BSL season. Before the announcement the club made a transaction picking up Ned Grabavoy and releasing Daigo Kobayashi.

Week 6

A win!! After 4 straight losses to start the season, Union SC finally put together a quality match with scores from Mattocks, Edu, Watson, and Rolfe to easily defeat Ohio 5-0. Forget the opponent, the result was a step in the right direction. Now, the U will play the Suns next. A positive result against the rivals could really help rebuild the season. Its also real nice to put step on the Coast as well.

Week 5

No Wondo, but should that be a problem. It shouldn't be. Union SC has the players and at some point they need to show what they can do. Just a win even against Ohio and maybe the momentum will change. Atleast that is what the clubs owner is wishing for.

Week 4

The time is now. No more excuses. Union SC needs a win against Rose City this weekend. The front office is shocked by the slow start. The expectations were different, but its results that matter and without wins, the verdict will not be kind. Once again the club will not be able to sport a complete lineup. Its not an excuse, but a reality. This time it will be Samuel and Ishizaki that will be missing.
