Week 7 started off strong for the Southlanders getting scores from Jermaine Jones and Lamar Neagle, but the tide turn midway in the game and SC Canada's offense proved too much on this occasion. Final score: SC Canada 5:3 Union SC. The Southlanders remain in 2nd place.

Unbeaten in Four

Union Southern California continued the clubs good form defeating their Founders Cup rival. Final Score: Union SC 6:5 Capital District in week 6 action. The win extends the Southlanders unbeaten run in league matches to 4 games.

Mike Magee was the man of the match with 2 scores.

Melano Early Score All That Was Needed

Union 3 : 0 Spartans

Chris Wondolowski's early goal was canceled out due to the clubs first ever lineup failure, but thankfully it did not cost the Union as the Spartans would fail to score in the match meaning that Lucas Melano's assist would prove to be the game winner. The Union would get more scores to eventually win the match by a wider margin.

Offense Flat for First Qualifer

Facing Gateway United for the 2nd week in a row proved too much, as the Southlanders offense fell asleep with only Chris Wondolowski finding the back of the net.

"Clearly we wanted to start the qualifiers better, and will need to improve" said the Union manager.

Union SC had been playing well going 2-1-1 in the BSL schedule before this qualifier.

Union See Reds In Draw With Alamo City

It was a tough way to make a point, but Union Southern California overcame several deficits to earn a tie with Alamo City in week 3 action.

"It wasn't the victory that we set out for, but against this club we'll take the point" said the Union owner. 

The result came at great expense as the Southlanders had 2 red cards in the match. Both Beckerman and Espinoza were sent off. Meanwhile, Ilsinho had a PK stopped that could have been the game winner.

Comeback Falls Short

Falling behind early, Union Southern California found its groove late with goals from Will Bruin and Chris Wondolowski, but could not find the equalizer and fell to Orange County in week 2 action.

 "I am proud of the fight this side showed" said the Union manager. 

The club is now 1-1-0 on the young season and currently in 5th place in the BSL standings.

Even With Win, Union Not Satisfied Completely

The Southlanders did enough in their home opener to get the victory, but the head coach voiced concerns over the injury to Dan Kennedy. "It's unclear how serious this is" he said.  Also a hot topic was his decision to not start Mike Magee. Something, the owners wife (a huge fan of Magee's) even questioned after the match. "Its easy to second guess yourself afterwards and a player you bench scores a hat trick." Lastly, Union S.C. had 2 cards in the match, which is something that has plagued the club since 2014. The Union were the most carded BSL club in 2014 and 2015. "Steps will be taken to clean up our mistakes, but for right now we're 1-0-0!" said the owner.

Week 6

A win!! After 4 straight losses to start the season, Union SC finally put together a quality match with scores from Mattocks, Edu, Watson, and Rolfe to easily defeat Ohio 5-0. Forget the opponent, the result was a step in the right direction. Now, the U will play the Suns next. A positive result against the rivals could really help rebuild the season. Its also real nice to put step on the Coast as well.

Week 3 Lineup

An 0-2-0 start to the season is not how things were supposed to get started for Union SC. "It's very frustrating and has really put a damper on the hopes I had for the 2014 season. Its been 3 years since Union SC has made the playoffs and slow starts have been the reason for the drought."  Up next is a showdown against the current champions - Burud Town.  To mix things up Union SC has signed Je-Vaughn Watson(DAL) and Sam Cronin(SJE), releasing Gruenebaum and Kobayaski.

Coming up for week 18: Union Southern California vs Orange County Zodiac

The Blues picked up another 3 points thanks to the hat trick from Brad Knighton. The 4 game unbeaten streak will be put to the test next as the U has to face the Zodiac shorthanded. Four of the usual starters will be absent this weekend and it will put a real strain on the offense. The decision was made not to make any transaction moves and break up the line-up for one match.

Coming up for week 17: Union Southern California vs Alliance Football Club

The struggling Blues offense began showing signs of improvement weeks ago, but against the defending BSL champions, Union SC erupted for 9 scores. From top to bottom the lineup delivered and has now given real hope that post season action is a possibility in 2013. This was also the first win over the Flyers. "The playoffs are still within reach if a couple of results go our way, and the MCQ is up for grabs to whichever team plays well the last couple of weeks." said the Blues coach.

In danger of falling further behind in the MCQ, the Blues broke a 1-1 deadlock against the Stoners when Michel and Sheanon Williams popped in a couple of scores to gives the U the victory. "It was a huge 3 points! It gives us life" said the coach. Now the club has take on the BSL Champions who are playing their best ball at the moment. "It's going to be a huge challenge having never beaten the Flyers before, but the players will be ready"
